Our Aims and Objectives

Gluten Free Meal

To provide a local forum for all people, who share a medical condition, which gives their immune system, an intolerance to the flour from wheat, barley, oats and rye.

These sufferers may be registered as having the Coeliac disease, or IBS, or they just cannot eat food which contains flour from wheat, barley, oats or rye.

Our Group aims to provide, through regular monthly meetings, an opportunity to meet fellow sufferers, to share their knowledge, where to buy, what to buy, where to eat and for us to bring to these meetings, knowledgeable local specialists, local suppliers of GF products, local retailers who sell GF products and to provide our members with an opportunity to ask questions and to discuss the answers.

We aimed to let people in Crawley become more aware of the disease and how we as a Group, may be able to help sufferers. We get regular write-ups in the local press, informing all who read about our regular monthly meetings, what more could we do?.

So we approached the large local Superstores, Tesco agreed to display our contact details on their GF shelves (see picture), Sainsbury also agreed to display our details on their notice board, which they have done. This has increased the awareness of local shoppers, to our meetings.

Then we asked the local GPs, and they agreed to display our Group's details on their Surgery Notice Boards, which they now do, Crawley Hospital agreed to display our details, many of these objectives were achieved by our own members going there and simply asking.

We now have a Gluten Free Restaurants page, to which our members add new restaurants each month, we plan eventually to attach a brief menu from each restaurant.

It is a purely voluntary organisation, nobody gets paid.

It has no Committee, no President, no Secretary, it is just an informal gathering, which was established in February 2007, due to the lack of such a group, existing in the Crawley area.

The Group produces a monthly newsletter and has an auditable charity bank account, with the local Crawley Lloyds TSB
